Dr Avanthika Chaithanya

I am Dr Avanthika Chaithanya. I recently graduated from medical school in 2021, from India and am ECFMG certified Pediatric Residency applicant, applying for the NRMP Match 2023.

I love working with children! I have 6 months of US Clinical Experience (Clerkships) in Pediatrics and am currently working in a pediatric outpatient setup. I fell in love with Pediatrics as a subject ever since my first rotation at med school, and here I am, aspiring to be a pediatrician one day, to cure little ones everywhere! I am passionate towards child healthcare and health equity, and I am actively seeking and pursuing opportunities to help me achieve my dream of being a pediatrician.

I enjoy working in academic research as well, and have a 25+ publications in Pediatrics and Primary Care Medicine. I am the co-founder of "The Otto Research Initiative", a non profit organization that teaches and mentors International Medical Students and Graduates in basic research skill sets and projects.
I also founded the "KIMS Scientific Society", in my alma mater Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, to encourage young medical students to step into the field of research.

I volunteer with various NGOs and organizations like Rotary International and Red Cross to help and serve underprivileged children. I spearheaded menstrual hygiene talks for young girls to spread menstrual awareness, and free health camps for children of all ages, to ensure accessible health care for all. I founded a supportline called "The Safe Space" which is a free online mental health helpline for children and adolescents globally, run by healthcare professionals.
I am also currently functioning as the Head of Operations for "Rama Rao Charitable Trust", a non profit organization which helps with free housing and educational opportunities for underprivileged students and children in Bangalore, India.

In my free time, I travel, write poetry (I am a published author on Amazon), eat loads of food and binge watch the latest netflix crime-thriller documentary.
